Global Operations Manager

Location: Boston, MA

MassChallenge is looking for an operations professional to support excellence in accelerator programs around the world including Mexico, Switzerland and Israel.  

Global operations account managers have two main functions at MassChallenge. First, you’ll ensure that the accelerator programs you support effectively manage their key milestones: startup recruitment, judging, program design, major events, more judging, final awards, and end of year planning. Second, you’ll collaborate with others across the MC team to make global improvements to how we operate and ultimately accelerate startups and innovation communities. These are strategic and practical projects critical to the growth of the organization. For example, account managers have rolled out task management tools, created knowledge databases, recommended new technical features to our platform, managed hiring processes, and created new products or partnerships.  

This is a role for excellent project managers who can take plans from start to finish. It’s simultaneously strategic and hands-on, and is a great view into the startup world, global nonprofit management, and operations excellence.  

What You’ll Do 
Manage Startup Accelerator Accounts 

  • Provide regular operational support as the “account manager” for 2-3 global programs working with the in-country teams on a daily basis to provide them with the guidance and resources needed to accomplish their goals. 
  • Monitor activities of your programs regularly to ensure they are meeting their metric targets and operating in a way that is aligned with all parts of the MassChallenge brand. 
  • Identify gaps in current global operations and areas for improvement to determine and analyze the biggest needs and provide recommendations to the executive team for high-leverage positive impact. 
  • Maintain strong relations with team members globally to ensure that they are satisfied with their role, enabled to succeed and have clear, long-term, career plans to optimize for retention and individual success. 

Project Manage Growth and Operations Opportunities  

  • Support new and existing offices with critical talent selection by supporting the hiring and onboarding processes for new employees around the world. 
  • Create and support internal systems to enable success of core operational functions through technology and structured processes to optimize for collaboration and efficiency.
  • Support the process for identifying, creating, testing, and driving new activities that support MassChallenge organizational goals. 

Who You Are and What You Bring 

  • You have a bachelor’s degree. 
  • You have 2-4 years of work experience in operations or project management. 
  • You are an excellent communicator. You can deliver good and bad news. You can influence and motivate people. 
  • You are resourceful, a creative problem solver, and an analytical thinker. 
  • You are organized and thorough in all aspects of your work.  
  • You are able to multi-task and juggle multiple projects at one time. 
  • You have informal experience leading others on projects or initiatives and a strong desire to be an engaging and motivating people manager; you are capable of setting priorities and goals for others and providing direct feedback 
  • You have a global business mindset and cultural awareness. 
  • You are tech savy, including having experience with Excel and PowerPoint and you are quick to learn the ins and outs of new platforms, like our Accelerate platform.
