Marketing & Communications Manager

Department: Marketing
Location: Mexico City

The primary goal of this role is to combine compelling creative, targeted, and insightful communication to produce campaigns, programs, and tools that deliver marketing qualified leads and support to attract the highest quality startups and attract potential partners that will increase in overall the revenue growth.

Additionally, the Marketing & Communications Manager will be responsible for the building and leading a high-performing team to achieve the desired marketing and communication outcomes.

Main Responsibilities:

The role of the Marketing & Communications Manager will focus on two main MassChallenge stakeholders: Startups/entrepreneurial ecosystem and Partners (corporate sponsors). Each of these audiences has different communication channels audiences etc.

• Communication strategy
o Define the communication strategy for MassChallenge stakeholders
o Define MassChallenge Mexico messaging for each stakeholder
o Implement and drive strategically the communication strategy
o Create case studies, proof sources and compelling stories of corporate and public partnership success

Marketing Duties
o Create a holistic marketing strategy
o Manage the newsletter and regular external communications
o Manage event promotions for major public events
o Support the marketing of MassChallenge’s application recruitment across various marketing channels
o Marketing strategies for Corporate stakeholders of MCMX
o Lead generation activity generally focused on creating new partnerships, marketing, and mentoring opportunities

• Reporting
o Have a knowledge of how to measure success in marketing & communications and set and deliver on key metrics
o Must be able to interpret those metrics into lessons and strategies to improve performance and apply them month to month

• PR & Speaking Opportunities
o Direct strategy for event speaking engagements
o Build and develop meaningful relationships with our marketing nodes and other key players to find relevant speaking opportunities and other networking events

• Community Engagement

o Work alongside with the Community Director to develop a strategy to engage with the MassChallenge Mexico Community, including different stakeholders, such as Partners, Mentors, Startups, etc

• Database Management
o Strategically manage the MCMX database
o Collaborate with MassChallenge Mexico’s Operations Manager to maintain and update the communications database

• Social Media

o Develop a strategy with the Community Manager to achieve the planned growth results
o Managethedifferentsocialmediachannels(Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)
o Stay up to date with social media, startup ecosystem, Corporate-Startup collaboration trends
o Interact and build relationships on social media with key influencers

• Content creation
o Develop an ongoing content calendar and pitch and create new content ideas that are relevant to the trends and discussions
o Draft articles, op-eds, blogs and other content
o Have a great attention to detail and ability to thoroughly research topics in a short amount of time as background documents
o Assist with talking points for events and interviews for senior staff as needed
o Drive all presentation, proposal and related collateral to support partnership sales and account management

• Relationship Management
o Build relationships with current participants and alumni to promote their news strategically
o Manage outreach and support for MCMX program, acting as primary liaison with MC HQ Global Marketing in aspects of PR, communications, design, and creative content
o Pursue, secure and manage new marketing partners to expand community outreach
o Create a culture of high-service, high-support, and high expectations in the work developed within the area
o Manage dependencies during busy times to ensure smooth delivery
o Manage the visual representation and presence of partners on MC's website, digital outreach, walls in program offices with heavy collaboration from the MC HQ marketing and software engineering teams.

Position Requirements

  • Experience: 5-7 years of marketing and operations experience

  • Degree: MBA or Graduate degree in Marketing and Communications

  • Strong understanding of the external market, competitive landscape, and trends that impact our business

  • Exceptional relationship skills, negotiating skills, and the ability to build rapport with internal and external constituencies

  • Demonstrated ability to drive substantial market growth within a compressed time frame

  • Outstanding written and oral communication

  • Clear focus and demonstrated ability for data-driven decision making based on in-depth analytics

  • Strong process and customer service orientation

  • Capable to work under pressure and strict deadlines

  • A professional, hands-on, resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at a time

  • Skilled in leveraging limited resources to create big successes

  • Enjoy working in a deadline-oriented high-pressure environment with many conflicting priorities - and the ability to effectively prioritize

  • Ability to lead, a willingness to be led, and comfort with situational leadership
