MassChallenge Mexico – Grants Manager Job Description

 

MassChallenge is the world’s most startup friendly accelerator, connecting high-impact startups with the resources they need to launch and succeed. Founded in Mexico in 2015, MassChallenge provides startups with a wide range of support, including office space, connections to a vast network of innovative leaders, corporate executives, seasoned entrepreneurs, experts and investors.

 

MassChallenge Mexico seeks a high-energy, detail-oriented professional to support in our fundraising activities. This function is charged with looking for opportunities with international and local organizations and governments. This person will apply to grants and be responsible for reporting and following up on received grants. The Grant Manager will have goals related to fundraising, financial planning and accounting. Our ideal candidate is comfortable with numbers and demonstrates a high level of ownership. The candidate will want to leverage his or her experience in a mission-driven, startup-oriented company. They will also be passionate about both the startup community and working with a growing team in Mexico City.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Grant search and application

  • Grant research: Use diverse approaches to find grants at a local and international level. Reach out to grant-giving organizations, attend events, and constantly search grants that align to MassChallenge’s mission and objectives.
  • Grant submission of grant applications: Write grant applications, understanding both what MassChallenge and the grant-giving organization are looking for. Have a clear outlook of deadlines and processes.

 

Grant management

  • Grant process management: Create processes and supervise execution of grants to ensure performance and financial goals are met. Manage accounting and financial information.

· Reporting: Report to grant-giving organizations on performance and financial metrics. Have a clear outlook of deadlines and processes, understanding the reporting mechanisms set by each organization.

  • Planning: Prepare and submit estimations on fundraising and expenses at least quarterly.

 

Other

  • Relationship management: Manage relationship with government and other grant-giving organizations to ensure constant communication and collaboration beyond current projects.

 

Mexico Team Member

  • Work closely with the MassChallenge Mexico team, especially with the Operations Manager and the Community team, to ensure excellence in the execution of grants.

· Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ad-hoc projects as needed

  • High-level of flexibility, and a willingness to work long days and non-traditional hours

 

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2-3 years in a in a management or operations role

· Bachelor’s degree required in engineering, management or accounting

· Exceptional written and oral communication, and relationship-building skills across multiple levels of management.

· Fluency in Spanish is mandatory and in English preferable.

· High level of mastery of business software such as Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

· Goal-oriented, ambitious, self-starter, detail oriented and passionate

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced deadline driven environment

· A professional, hands-on, resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, and to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at a time, all the while managing the fundraising pipeline

· Ability to collaborate across teams

  • Enjoy working in a fluid, dynamic organization with a minimal amount of direction
